What do you do on Sunday afternoons?

Say that then…sounds unique

I don’t understand how’s that unique. If I write about that I’m sure I’ll sound very dull

i haven’t written this one up yet but i do have what i want to write about… the sunday before Christmas I went to my apbio teacher’s church (with a friend) upon her request, and with the youth group there we walked to giant, did some grocery shopping, cooked food in the church kitchen, wrote xmas cards, went to D.C for a little, handed them out to a homeless shelter. (of course i’d add more details)… this honestly did happen two sundays ago but i feel like it’d seem made up or something. would what i have be fine?

carpe diem I’m sure you’re very passionate about what happened that sunday before christmas, but remember many applicants probably did something similar. Going to the homeless shelter is, in my opinion, overrated. I think it’d be better if you reveal yourself through the ordinary things you do on sun. On the other hand, if you really think you can write meaningfully, then go ahead write about that by all means. Good luck.

i wrote a paragraph about playing soccer.
i dont think its that important, so dont sweat on it

I read somewhere that about 1% of admissions is based on essays. don’t spend too much time on this one.

Strappleberry, do you remember where you’ve read this? I’ve also heard this also. I just want some definite proof.

H20nline, that could be a great essay, go with it

“I read somewhere that about 1% of admissions is based on essays. don’t spend too much time on this one.”

I’m sure it’s more for somewhere like Tisch, though.

I think you guys are being too literal about it being on a Sunday afternoon. My D wrote about something she did and it had not literally landed on a Sunday but does it really matter? When you pick your college essay topics, you should focus on what you want colleges to know about you and then fit that to the essay question at hand. She did that. She is now a freshman at Tisch.

hahaha… i wrote that my mom left for shanghai (which she did), and that it showed i was independent and stuff because she left me with the house by myself etc (take care of my brother, do hw, cook, etc)

kinda lame, now that i think about it… but who cares, i submitted already!! STERN BABY!!~

i wrote about listening to rap

i got in ED, i wrote about planning a surprise bday party with my best friend for another friend…it was sorta corny but it showed my “creativity” as my guidance counselor said
