What do you do to keep your mind off things?

@YSPPRSU: No way! I’m reading that right now, as we speak! I love it too; you’re not the only one. :)

atlas shrugged :D

^ I love Atlas Shrugged too. Have you read We the Living?

yep :)

10char

Ayn Rand is absolutely amazing. I have read all of her fictional works and own most of her nonfiction. (Planning to get to those soon.)

I love Brave New World and 1984, as well. Orwell, especially, is extremely talented.

(Great minds think alike, much?)

great minds do think alike
brave new world is eerily accurate

Back to We the Living: What did you think of the ending (as in all the events starting with her rejection of one and his subsequent death to the end)? (I hope we’re not spoiling it for anybody, trying to be discreet.) Did you think what Kira did was right?

Pride and Prejudice…I think EVERYBODY loves it…at least everybody around me who has read it. I don’t really like Jane Austen though…if on marriage and fidelity stuff, more into John Updike ^_^

I love Brave New World too! Sooo good! :)

and Animal Farm.

I honestly forgot, up until today. That’s how much faith I have in myself! Haha. I guess I’ve taken my mind off of it by being busy with school work. <3 School work ;)

^ forgot D-Day, 12/15? Really? I’m jealous, actually.

I’m not first in my class, my test scores are low in CC-standards, I had only turned in my recommendations two weeks ago — I just really didn’t consider myself in the running X) But I’m praying for some sort of miracle. Tomorrow’s my birthday, for crying out loud. What better way to celebrate a 18th birthday than with a Yale acceptance? :)))

^ every time i wrote the date on the top of my notes I got nervous :(

Bake things. I’ve been a pretty prolific baker over the past weekend.

Me too! I made cookies last night…sooo good!!! :D

1 cup butter

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 1/2 cups firmly packed brown sugar

2 large eggs

2 1/2 teaspoons vanilla

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

3/4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

18 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips

1. preheat oven to 350

2. in large mixing bowl cream together the butter, sugars, eggs and vanilla

3. in another bowl, mix together the flour baking soda baking powder and salt

4. combine the wet and dry ingredients

5. stir in choco chips

6. place golf ball sized dough 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet

7. bake 9-10 minutes or until edges are light brown

i always burn things whenever i get remotely near a kitchen…

but my friend is baking me cookies for Wednesday morning so hopefully that will be a good pick-me-up.

that would suck to be rejected on your birthday :frowning: haha maybe the adcoms will see your birthdate and feel bad for you! :D

for the record, best novel ever written is JANE EYRE baby!
