What do you hate....that almost everyone else loves

Surprise parties
Melons
Green peppers
Team building exercises and or motivational speakers
Sports with balls

^^Love melons and green peppers but really hate to be a participant in the other things on your list!

@1or2Musicians I really despise Love Actually as well. How on earth that could be a feel-good holiday movie boggles my mind.

More:
Watermelon. The smell alone makes me physically ill
Buying books from Amazon. I like to support my favorite indie bookstore. The few extra dollars paid come back in good will

SpongeBob Squarepants
Monty Python
Parties

@MotherOfDragons and @1or2Musicians - The secret to loving “Love Actually” is to pay attention to the details. The overall movie is cheesy to no end.

10 reasons to love “Love Actually”-

  1. The Jamie/Aurelia Story Line (Colin Firth)
    1. The way Karl touches Sarah's hair when they dance
    2. The moment when Juliet recognizes that Mark loves her (while watching the wedding video)
    3. The impromptu rendition of "All you Need is Love" at the wedding
    4. The blind faith of Colin that he will find love if he just changes continents
    5. The way the Prime Minister stands up for Natalie at the press conference
    6. When Billy admits that the "love" of his life is his manager Joe
    7. When Karen straightens the bed after finding Harry has not given her the necklace
    8. The unconditional support that Daniel shows his son Sam
    9. THE BEST THING - The closing credits with the scenes of people at the airport. (Makes me cry, everytime, because we can all appreciate the joy or reuniting with a loved one)

@labegg you make good points on your side of the argument. I could make good points on my side of the argument, but that would require me to watch the movie again, and that’s not going to happen B-)

I don’t like bachelorette parties, and I didn’t have one for my wedding. Oily naked gay guys that I have to throw money at surrounded by drunken screaming women, no thanks. I’ve used some very elaborate excuses to get out of them when I’ve been a bridesmaid. Let me stress that there is nothing wrong with oily naked gay guys; but I am not attracted to them and I don’t like the objectification of the human form in that way for either gender.

I am the OP’s twin.

Not a SpongeBob fan either!
And I also hate those inane icebreaker things that seem to be a part of every conference I attend. It’s a business meeting, not sorority rush!

@labegg - I just watched “love Actually” on 2 flights (had to watch the last half hour on the flight home). It was adorable. No deep meaning, just an easy movie to watch. LaLaLand is similar. Just a sweet movie.

I agree with others about corporate crap like off site ‘team building’ meetings, motivational speakers and the like (I once had to attend a Steven Covey seminar as a work sponsored (mandatory) event, the guy creeped me out), ‘efficiency experts’, ‘quality experts’, and my pet bugaboo, the annual review process that in my 30 years working I have yet to see one that actually does what it is supposed to and allows a manager to rate employees based on what the employee really has done.

@labegg, I’ve seen it recently so I could make counterpoints but I don’t think anyone is going to change minds here.

I will say I hated the whole Colin Firth storyline. The Daniel/Sam storyline was the least annoying so I might grant you that point.

I have read through this entire thread to confirm that no one has mentioned my #1 candidate: popcorn. “Hate” is too strong a word, but I have never, ever liked it, not even when I was a kid. I can make it for people, but I won’t eat it. The rest of my family loves it, of course.

Honestly, I like most of the things many of you seem to dislike, although I don’t exactly seek out massages. I’ve never been to a bachelor or bachelorette party, and they don’t sound interesting.

Other things I dislike that the world seems not to:

Self-help
Professional help
Sitcoms (with a limited number of exceptions, including both Seinfeld and Big Bang Theory, sorry)
CSI Anything
Exercise
Prog Rock (again with limited exceptions, e.g. TV On The Radio)
Elton John
Bach (and classical-period classical music in general)
Andrew Lloyd Webber
Les Miz
Milos Forman
The Fast and the Furious
Rocky
Transformers
Former Disney Channel stars
SUVs
Sports cars
Makeup

Props to @MomofWildChild for admitting that she doesn’t love babies. Who doesn’t love babies? I go nuts for babies. I have to discipline myself so I don’t come off as a potential molester when I am oogling babies in public. Evolution wired me that way.

Ooops. I forgot to add ABBA. I never got ABBA.

My daughter won’t eat any kind of processed fruit – no fruit juice, no jelly or jam, no pies, no applesauce, no popsicles, no fruit reduction drizzled over your dessert as part of the plating. She tells the waiter to ask the cooks not to do that. She’ll eat most whole fruits, but any kind of processing, even cutting it up, kills it for her. And it has been that way since she was a baby.

Based on actual practice, most people appear to dislike exercise.

Me.

My daughter and son don’t like babies, either. It’s all any of us can do to appropriately “ooh and ahhh” when presented with one. I love baby animals, though!

I do not enjoy infants or babies. I adore children–beginning at age 4.
Thank goodness my G’son is now 4 and if find him quite wonderful
No more pretending!
And yes, was also bored with my two as babies.

I like babies, I don’t like kids except for mine. But maybe if you had the kids I do in my family you’d get it. I can’t stand whining and crying and even worse, I can’t stand the way people parent now - Johnny, doctor smith needs to look at your throat, is that okay? No! Please? We’ll go get ice cream after…yikes, I’m the worst, I can’t stand parents either - lol

I was never crazy about babies, so was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked my own. He just made everything so easy, like nursing, bathing, cuddling. Ya, he wasn’t a good sleeper, but he liked play groups and parents liked him.

I feel the same about dogs. Some I take an instant like to, and can feel the response.
