Cinnabon or any other “sugar bombs” that franchises try to pass off as real food.

Tiger Woods probably attracted considerable interest beyond the typical professional golf audience because professional golf was stereotyped as a sport which fat white men played (often on racially exclusive country clubs). A physically fit multiracial (including black and Asian) guy winning at golf was certainly a novelty at the time.

Getting your news mainly from social media.

Much of the news shared on social media is heavily editorialized (or sometimes outright fake), probably because the people sharing news on social media tend to be the most opinionated. Occasionally, social media news sharing brings up a topic that may not have as much visibility otherwise, but it would be better to look into it in more depth outside of social media instead of trusting the probably heavily editorialized article shared on social media.

Marshmallows
New York City
Dogs (but I’m always afraid to say that because many people I love love dogs so I smile and nod)

My top three are: urban areas, public transportation, and new TV shows.

Unless I was forced to live in a city for work, I would never ever live in one. Traffic, dirtiness, crime, high cost of living
no thanks. The appeal of shops/restaurants/shows doesn’t really interest me.

As for new TV shows, a couple of them I enjoy, but most are just too serious/dark/depressing these days. When I get home from a hard day’s work, I want to watch something upbeat and fun, not something about a serial killer in new york city who OD’d on pain killers, or whatever. Why would I want to watch that??

If this was a dating thread I found a couple of perfect matches.

I hate low rise pants, even if they come to just below the waist. They are so uncomfortable.

For years I waited for that fashion fad to end, but I’ve now resigned myself to the fact that they are here to stay.

ucbalumnus- Your “news from social media” is probably a bad generalization. I can understand that if you said “news from facebook”, but I’ve found most news from Twitter is accurate and breaks faster than anywhere else.

Chain restaurants

Chain stores
Reality TV
Situation comedies
I realize when watching any award shows that I have no idea who the TV actors from comedies are because I have no memory of watching any situation comedy shows in probably at least 10 years

Yes, Twitter can give the quickest notice of something happening.

But can 140 characters really be enough to put together the big picture of what is actually happening, or the often-needed background context to the event?

It depends on who you follow. 140 characters is plenty to provide a link or two to the primary sources and full stories.

Wouldn’t say “hate”, but I don’t enjoy babies. I don’t find them cute or enticing in any way. I guess it’s how some of the posters above feel about dogs or cats. Babies just don’t do anything for me. Miraculously, I loved my own when they arrived, but I had not planned on having children!

Some babes and little kids are great. It wasn’t until a thread about noisy, whiny babies that I realized how little we hear a peep out of them here, no tantrums in public, just smiling and reasonably engaged. Must be my area. But I’m not in some sot of cult about them yet. I have a lot of living left before returning to a child centered life.

Carrabba’s. It’s always crowded, granted it has a nice ambience, but every single time we look at each other and go “why did we come here? This is not that good”.
