Choosing more expensive things mainly for their status symbol aspect, rather than actual usefulness for how one uses them.
Regarding talking on the phone versus texting, each one is better for specific types of things. Talking is better for more interactive conversations, while texting is better for leaving messages and things like addresses that are best written down (ever get a garbled voice message?).
^True, ucbalumnus, but I know almost no one anymore who talks interactively on the phone just for the pleasure of conversation(other than family.)
^oooo–yes hating buffets
receiving unexpected compliments - I never know if they are sincere or what to say in return
Star Wars movies (lots of company here, I see)
spectator sports
texting - I can’t access tone of voice to interpret message, although it does work well to exchange contact information
Costco’s Rotisserie Chicken
Add beer to my list. I won’t drink it ever. Even when it’s free.
For college graduation, we gave DD’s BF a beer-maker. He had a 4-pack ready for H and me, but D said to just give us one bottle because we would each take only a sip (to be polite) and give the rest to her. She was correct; I could hardly get it down.
My DD can’t stand butterflies and pigeons.
Really hate Sam’s Club rotisserie chicken–too sweet. Actually mostly dislike sweet or sweet/sour main courses of all kinds.
Vinyl siding. I’d take a bad paint job any day.
Massages. White chocolate. Flavored coffee. Football. Violent movies.
Coffee, ice cream, mashed potatoes–People act like I’m un-American.
People who don’t train their children to be quiet when an adult is on the phone - My Sister, I’m looking at YOU!
Foot rubs
Science fiction
Sushi
Onions
Watermelon or any melons.
Fruit ice cream (strawberry or peach, etc.) will never touch my lips.
Orange juice, lemonade, anything with pulp. Makes me gag.
Hate is too strong of a word, but I don’t like the movie It’s a Wonderful Life. The family is watching it now except me.
Never liked lemon meringue pie or angel food cake.
Tanning is boring.
Answering a question up thread:
I despise talking on the phone. I have hearing problems (I can hear people but it’s muffled) and I am easily distracted. Both of which are not good for trying to carry on a conversation on the phone.
Texting has been a lifechanger.
Oh I’ll add coffee to the list. Hate it. Nope.
And the Godfather movies.
Red velvet anything! I don’t get it. If I want chocolate cake, I’ll have chocolate cake.
Seinfeld – thought I was the ONLY PERSON who didn’t like Seinfeld until I saw how many of my fellow CC’ers dislike the show too!
@fragbot, Seinfeld? What is it that you don’t like about it, or are you just indifferent?
