Of course you have!

zoosermon, I trust you have tried the various fingerlings! My favorite is La ratte. I spend a lot trying to grow them.

<a href=“Potatoes at WSU | Washington State University”>Potatoes at WSU | Washington State University;

Same with growing garlic, although I am pretty successful with them. And shallots. I splurge on eating and rowing shallots.

I would love to spend on travel. One day, when I don’t own a business.

Shrinkrap–I can’t believe there is a knife forum but I don’t know why I am surprised. I bought what I think are very good knives 15 years ago and they still serve me well. If I were to start reading that forum, I am afraid I would learn things I don’t want to know, requiring me to go out and find new knives! (Made the mistake of reading up on cameras…better to be uninformed!)

oldfort—I am afraid of botox or plastic surgery. I wish there were a magic wand….

^ Found them all on chowhound

Irish butter.

Shrinkrap, I am very impressed by your agricultural prowess! I admire that very much.

As soon as my dog kicks the bucket (I am mad at him today), I will be hiring someone to do my big cleaning.

TempeMom–they sell Irish butter in our Costco. The color is so much deeper than the butter I usually buy. Almost the difference between eggs from the Farmer’s Market and organic eggs from Costco.

Mine is kind of similar to MomofWildChild

Lululemon
Frye shoes
Shoes, shoes and more shoes
Lunches out
Dinners out (weekends)
Skincare - IS clinical and Revision
Microdermabrasion every couple of months
Mani/Pedi

Probably a lot of other superficial stuff. But I am worth it :).

Tell me about the Irish butter. A really big difference?

Re: Irish butter. My children don’t notice the difference, but they are only eating it on steamed broccoli. We are not a buttered toast household.

The Irish take their butter seriously though. Every small grocer has a huge section devoted to butter and now spreads. (The # of options seems large in comparison to the small size of the grocer.) The low-fat craze has caught on over there too.

I think most of the cows in Ireland are still pasture raised and the milk tastes different to me - difference in the butter may be due to this and/or the type of cows milk the butter comes from (eg Jersey cows have higher percent cream in milk IIRC).

I wonder about Irish butter in mashed potatoes . . .

The cows and sheep graze on the most gorgeous green grass. We came across some cows with amazing water views!

“Ha ha, plenty of people on CC will rip you a new one if you dare to discuss buying a luxury item and tell you you should donate the money to charity. Trust me on this!”

I suppose there are some. But there are some threads that are more appropriate to post about these things than others…ie, if people are posting about their luxury items in the financial aid forum, they deserve to get ripped. Not that I know anyone who has.

I’m still not posting my splurges, even on this thread.

Just back from the grocery store with…Yukon Gold Potatoes. I don’t think I’ve ever eaten them before, but they were on sale at Kroger; $2.50 for a 5# bag.

toledo, they make lovely mashed potatoes. Very flavorful and moist.

I use Yukon Golds once a year as my “go to” potatoes to make potato latkes for Chanukah. :)

Same here, zoosermom. Except that I have four who have to kick the bucket! It’s just too complicated having a cleaning lady or service here with four dogs. I do have a cleaning lady at our vacation home, who is a gem. I wish I could fly her here to do my cleaning.

I’m not sure I’ve ever had Irish butter. How is it different?

I’m not going to list the things we splurge on because we splurge on just about everything. As I’ve said before, we’re very fortunate.

Tea. Sounds simple, but I spend a lot of money on it. Addicted to David’s Tea. Tea has become a substitute for dessert and alcohol (not that I’ve quit either entirely).
