what do you think about this essay topic: farting

we’ve all had those moments when we kind of quietly sit there while everyone else complains of the stink but this was seriously an embarrassing moment for me. the teacher was even opening the windows to circulate the air. people from across the room could smell it and one girl sitting directly behind me even asked if i was the one who dunnit and when i said no, she called me a liar. haha, i guess she was right.

this was in the 4th grade (hasn’t happened since, thank god), but i think i can write an essay about it and how learning to accept the gross things about myself has made me stop striving for perfectionism and being more comfortable with who i am(okay, that sounded really cheesy but ya get the idea. hopefully i can connect to something really deep and profound).

also, come on, it’s about farting and who doesn’t enjoy a good fart joke? maybe the adcom will like me…

but in all seriousness, is this a dangerous topic? will i be considered daring and innovative or simply a gross pottymouth?

i think it will reflect upon you badly; you will seem immature and childish. in my opinion, i think this topic is bad.

Are you sure that you must reach all the way back to fourth grade to show something detailed and revealing about the person that you are now?

haha GO FOR IT!! honestly a farting essay is your golden ticket into yale=)

ok! now people learn stuff from farting too? look colleges are bored to death by … i did this, i learned this, look at me, i m such a better person because i farted in class!
ur topic could be entertaining … funny … amusing … fresh … just don’t end it like “because i farted … i became this … bla bla”

No. Please. Don’t.

Who are you today? What does this episode illustrate who you are now? If I were an adcom, I might get an impression that you are childish and not mature enough to attend my school.

As another poster said, you have to go back to 4th grade to find something interesting about you? I doubt that.

Humor can be good - although it is hard to know what makes another person laugh. We all have a different sense of humor.

Gross is less good.

While it might work for you, why risk it? Don’t go with bathroom humor.

special doesnt mean weird

Just… don’t.
Seriously, you could like mention it as some sort of example or metaphor in a sentence somewhere, if you MUST.
But I reckon you don’t seriously think the most important aspect/happening of/in your life is a fart in 4th grade?

Good luck! And don’t be afraid to pick another quirky topic!
