Ran to Home Depot today for planter box. I was wearing the outfit I had been doing yard work and washing cars all day in (sport bra, tech shirt from 2012 Danskin tri, Nike bike shorts & flip flops) with hair in pony tail. Cashier told me I looked relaxed. I took that as a complement!

I never thought I woud dye my hair. In my 20’s I was au natural wearing long hair parted in the middle. I did not shave my legs or arm pits, did not pluck my eyebrows or wear any makeup. Understand that I have very dark hair and lots of hair on my legs and bushy eyebrows.

Things began to change a bit as I got into my 30’s and 40’s. But I still ddn’t wear make-up or ever blow dry my hair. At some point , mid 40’s, I decided to cover the grey and blow dry my hair.

I must admit, I hate going to the hairdresser. My life before was so much easier. But I really prefer the way I look when giving some effort. I am not trying to not look my age. But I guess I am trying to look good for my age without being completely au natural.

So I guess I am trying a different route on the second half than I did on the first half!

morrismm, sounds like you found a new comfortable you. There are truly some people that look fantastic au natural, but as we age that becomes more difficult. Little kids look wonderful and adding anything looks ridiculous (makeup like the beauty pagents). Somehow a little effort in 40s plus goes a long way in looking and feeling better. Times change, who knows what 20 years from now will be in style.

I’m 47 and have been gray since my mid-20s, so I do color my hair. I like to have fun with it and I always had long hair, but recently cut it to a chin length bob which I really like. Having lifted weights and exercised at least 5 times a week all my adult life, I still have a very good body and could wear a bikini well if I wanted to, which I don’t. However, when I run in bike shorts and a tank top, men stop and stare, so I think I’m doing something right. I am very blessed on top, whcih has never been my favorite thing, but after 30 years together, my husband still thinks I look like a centerfold. How could anyone want more than that? I have finally come to terms with the fact that I am ridiculously short and have promised myself that I will be at least 5’8 in my next life.

I am short too and NOT particularly blessed on top. If I were to run down the street, men would definitely stop and stare but only because I run funny!

Haha^ Too funny.
