What do you think of these test scores?

ACT-

Composite 34
E: 32, M: 35, R: 32, S: 35

SAT II-

Math IIC: 790
Chemistry: 740

(awaiting PSAT; I’m a junior.)

Are these scores considered “good enough” for colleges such as UCB, UCLA, UCSD, Carnegie Mellon, Rice, WashU?

They are great but they arent going to get you into those schools alone. What are your gpa, class rank, ECs, schedule, etc.?

Chance Back?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/804723-chances-ed-dartmouth.html

Those scores are great for all UCs and CMU, and they make you competitive at Rice and WashU.

phlipper101:

GPA 4.0 UW

my school does not do class rank, but I’ve taken a rigorous course load (3 Honors as a sophomore and 3 APs as a junior)

I will have taken these APs by the end of high school (unless scheduling issues occur):

AP Calculus BC (this year)
AP French (this year)
AP Physics C (this year)
AP Chemistry
AP Computer Science
AP English
AP Statistics
(there’s Chemistry H, Pre-calculus H, French 4H if those matter)

ECs:

Marching Band Student Leader (2 years, head of a 30 person section. My school’s marching band is quite competitive.)
International Music Festivals (Sydney Opera House, there’ll be another next year)
Honor/State Bands
Tennis tournaments
Tennis coach (over summer and during the school year, community service)
School “excellence” awards in Band, Sciences, Math (1 to 2 students per teacher)
Tennis team
Summer Jobs/Internships (financial firm, the other summer was spent practicing for Australia and coaching)
top 14% in a national french concours

With those scores and ECs, youll be a very competitive applicant to all those schools. You just ahve to hone in on a couple ECs that you are really passionate about and use them as a hook.

anything you would recommend I do for some of the ivies (i.e. Dartmouth), MIT, Duke, etc?

Assuming you’re a CA resident, you’re pretty much in all UC’s. The others will be tougher.
