I know there is a lot to read, but if you have the heart to sit through all of it, I would greatly appreciate feedback! I know January 21 is right around the corner, but thank you so much anyway!

hey girl
you sound like a strong applicant with a lot going for you
i’m OOS as well and unfortunately the SAT scores are on the low side for an OOS applicant
but everything else is really good so i wish you the best of luck
ahhhh 18 more days til we hear!

Thanks! Ah! I know i’m counting down the days, too!
And, with the SAT scores, you know…if they focus so strongly on those scores, and don’t look at much else, a bad-test-takers like myself is out of luck. :frowning:
Good luck to you too!

I’ve heard they take a holistic approach, factoring in ECs and heavily weighting essays.

I’ve heard that as well!
…and that’s what I’m hoping for! Scores aren’t everything :)

4.0 UW but class rank 28/530!!! Something screams grade inflation. Do people generally get into top tier colleges from your school?

I think it’s going to be a reach for you. Good luck, though!

Our class rank is purely based off of our weighted GPA, meaning the 5.4 is what makes me 28th. Luckily it is top 10%! Our valedictorian has a 6.8 GPA. I don’t know how it’s possible.
It seems that people do get into their top schools. We had a few to Columbia last year, as well as West Point and the Air Force Academy.
I wish my school wasnt so gosh darn awesome ;)

I’m so glad that, back in my day, class rank was just based on your numerical average. So much simpler, LOL.

Honestly, I feel for today’s kids. Everything seems so much harder, so much more complicated. And, with all the ECs y’all do, when do you have time to sleep?

I dunno. You still seem like a VERY strong candidate to me, but what do I know? I’m new to this whole process (as a mom of teenagers), and it’s all so radically different from the way it was when I was young.

Diane

Scores are a bit low but other than you look fine.

does anyone know if being a first-generation student is helpful? or how helpful…

Diane, tell me about! It seems like instead of working hard IN college, which was how it used to be, we now work hard to get INTO college.

And i’m sure it’s helpful being first-generation. At least it’s considered.
