What do you think?

I got a 3.6 GPA for my second semester of freshman year and a 3.6 overall. What will I need to get sophomore year in order to be in good condition for the University of Michigan?

3.9-4 with mostly honors and AP classes.

Basically take tough classes and maintain as close to a 4.0 GPA (unweighed) as possible.

Do better.

Son got in this year w/a 3.6 UW, 4.1+ W. But he had 7 AP classes and most of the rest Honors, and our H.S. has fairly serious grade deflation—Class rank was top 10%. SAT 2030 one sitting. Really well-rounded and deep ECs in varsity sports and music. One of those that fits into the holistic reviews I suppose. Got in a few weeks after being deferred EA even before first semester senior grades were in. Decided to turn down a couple solid scholarship offers at smaller private schools to come to UM full pay OOS.

His sister graduated this year from UM. Accepted EA w/very similar stats. Graduated in 3 years w/Honors and a double major. Don’t know if that helped my son’s chances.

How many AP classes was your son taking in each year of high school? Also, I am out-state.

IIRC, he took 3 junior year and 4 senior year. Our H.S. only allows students to take them beginning junior year.

Ok thank you so much! This really gave me a overview of what classes I should be taking.
