What do you think?

Hello, so I applied about a month back for Mechanical Engineering. I am planning on doing engineering and economics.

29 ACT
Top 100 national high school
Low GPA because of freshman year, but steady upward trend.
Good ECs
Only 2 APs
School doesn’t rank
From New York

When should I expect to hear back, and what do you think my chances are.

Thanks to ALL

Fromm last year, the 25th percentile for accepted ACT scores was 26 and the 75th percentile was 31. At 29 you fall in between the two, around 50-60th percentile roughly. So your ACT is ok, maybe right around average.

The average weighted GPA last yeaer was a 3.97/4.0, so if you have a low GPA that will not help you since your ACT is not particularly high.

Are you Male or Female? What is your ethnicity? All of these things are very important, especially so in engineering. You are OOS but from NY which is a more popular state, so it helps but not as much as a “less popular” state would.

What kind of classes have you been taking? Are you taking more advanced math/science courses? Do you do better in those? What kind of ECs do you have? Math/Science related? Creative? Something that takes up a lot of time from studying?

You haven’t given enough information for anyone to tell you how you would do.
