What do you think?

I’m going into my junior year of high school and I reeeally want to go to the University of Texas at Austin. I got an 1860 on the SAT in a prep course (I’m not a Junior so I haven’t taken the PSAT yet to count toward my grade). I’m sure I can bring it up at least to a 1900. I’d LOVE to major in journalism. I’m in AP English, but that’s my only AP class. I’m going to be on the newspaper, yearbook, and literary magazine staff at my high school. My school has about 4,000 people attending on average, so I’m only in the top 10 to 20 percent. I’m extremely nervous about getting in or not. What do you think my chances are? Also, what are some other schools (in Texas) that you’d recommend for my interests?

If you are not in the top ten percent, you chances are slim, as the remaining spots will be more difficult to procure. Other great schools in Texas, although a perpetual rival, is A&M. It’s ranked 50-something in the US News Rankings.

Texas A&M is 64.

Oh, my mistake. Still a tier 1 school. :P
