AB gets you out of one semester of calc (Calc I)

BC gets you out of one year (Calc I and II)

someone correct me if i’m mistaken

you’re right.

thanks…

question!

I got a 4 on calc ab, but I would like to reinforce calc cause I had a hard time with my ap class in high school; is that recommended? (I’ve been planning to take Calc I regardless of how I did on the test… I wasn’t expecting a 4/5.)

When I went to RU for APA day, they strongly recommended that everyone use their AP credit; however, the choice is left to you…it’s a debatable topic, but if you really feel you don’t have a strong base in Calc I, it might not be a bad idea to take Calc I…Personally, I’m using all the AP credit I havee (ESPECIALLY the credit that’s getting me out of expos, lol)…

how do you indicate that you are going to use it? I want to use all mine.

Rutgers assumes you are using all of it unless you tell them otherwise…if you check your school email, you should have received (or will receive in the near future) an email that states all your scores and the credits you received…in it, it will say that if you wish to deny credits, then you have to notify them in writing

Just use all of it unless you’re planning on taking more math courses down the line. Calc II is one of the hardest calc classes at rutgers. I’ve heard that III isn’t nearly as difficult

well, I didn’t have an APA day cause I’m in engineering. (and yes, that has lots and lots of calc.) who should I e-mail about it?

@ lurker

I got a 5 on Calc AB and I plan to go as far as Calc II…I plan on taking it first semester frosh year, do you think that would be too hard?

bicyclekick: i know you’re just addressing lurker, but it seems like you have a good understanding of calc and have more than adequate mathematical abilities. i had a friend who did just the same, and got an A (he’s kind of an asian math geek, to put everything in perspective) in calc II. i think you’ll be fine…

don’t feel discouraged to do something, even though you think you can, just because you’ve heard it’s very difficult. this advice might seem a little naive, but: nothing’s too hard if you really work at it.

Thanks bicyclekick!

@ naoise

Thanks! yeah, i adressed lurker because he was the only current student present on this thread until now…but yeah, I plan to do pre-med which recommends going up to calc II and I just want to get it done so I can get to classes related to my major and minor…

p.s. I’m not asian…lol
