Introduction to Astronomy AST 101E states not for major credit. What does that mean?. Does that mean you will not get credit for completing the course?

you DO get credit for taking the course [for ex. AST 101, you will get the 3 or 4 credits for taking the class and the dec e(?) req] but it doesnt count for the MAJOR credit. AST 101 does not count as part of the credits you need to fulfill the ASTRONOMY major.

Thank you Izzy. So if I was a business major or computer major I will get credit for taking AST101E.If I was an astronomy major I would not get credit against my major.

Yup. You’ll still get credit for the course, but if you’re an astronomy major (and probably likewise with Earth and Space Sciences or any other major that requires AST), don’t think it’ll help you finish your major requirements–even if there’s a broad “X credits in AST courses” requirement. So a business major, a comp sci major, and an astronomy major will all get the same credit out of AST 101–3 credits of elective, plus DEC E.
