What does "Go bears!!" means?

What does “Go bears!!” means? I see this a lot recently.

Wow.

What else could it possibly mean?

LOL…the mascot is a bear so its like GO BEARS…

how amusing

Why the bears have to “go”? Where are the bears going? Why not “Yo Bears!!” or “Wow Bears!!”…

It is amusing by keep asking why.

It is a phrase first used with the sports teams and the verb ‘go’ is used to signify action, progress and attack against rivals, most specifically Stanfurd and fUCLA but any other rivals as well.

You will find yourself uttering or hearing that phrase for the rest of your life, including from random strangers anywhere in the world if they or you have on some Cal-wear or are otherwise identifiable as students/alumni/parents or just ardent team fans.

Thank you rider, your explanation is clear.

Go Bears!!

Go Bears!!

Nothing like the feeling of smashing Stanfurd into the ground and gaining or keeping the Stanford Axe that the Rally Committee first liberated from those losers in 1899. [UC Rally Committee | History of the Axe](http://ucrc.berkeley.edu/visitors/specialevents/biggame/axe_story.php)

Rider,

I love the post, but I just wanted to correct one minor fact. As much as UCRC would like to claim credit for the initial theft of the axe, the axe was initially liberated by a conniving group of independent Cal students who escorted it safely to Berkeley. The Rally Committee had nothing to do with it and wasn’t founded until 2 years later. Since the axe has become a symbol of the football rivalry (1933) it had been the responsibility of the UC Rally Committee (or the Stanfurd Axe Committee when the unspeakable occurs).

Go Bears! (and by that I mean Go beat the you know what out of anyone that stands in your way :))

Definitely true, the correction is warranted. They have only been involved with it for 76 years, but as their own history shows, the early battles and achievements were spontaneous achievements in the best Berkeley tradition.

I took liberties in my rush to pass on the flame of Bear enthusiasm.

go bears!!!

Go bears!!!

Stanfurd always makes me laugh. It’s like really? Spelling? And the scary part is when I’ve met Cal students who think Stanford is actually spelled with a u. =</p>

bring your knees in tight?
