<p>I am looking to apply for an internship, and one of the listed qualifications is to be in "strong academic standing." I was wondering if someone could elaborate as to what it means to be in strong academic standing. </p>
<p>Also, as a freshman applying for internships, what do you think would be a "good" or "acceptable" GPA for my first semester when applying for an internship?</p>
<p>i would assume it means 3.0+, however even if you don’t have that apply anyways. </p>
<p>the higher the better, but it depends on your major, the company and many other variables. FYI freshman in my major don’t get internships.</p>
<p>I don’t think that has a specific definition. It seems to just be a signal that they want high GPA applicants.</p>
<p>What defines “strong” depends on the school and major. But I would think that you’d want to be above average GPA for your program (that might be a 3.0 in Engineering or a 3.5 in Communications)</p>

<p>Also, your first semester is already over, yes? So, it doesn’t really matter what the acceptable GPAs are, since you already have a first semester GPA and can’t change it. Not trying to be blunt, just saying you shouldn’t worry about stuff that is already done =)</p>
