Answer the Q, thanks. =]

Be yourself. Don’t put up a facade. Let yourself feel emotions…good or bad.

You like to create lots of interesting threads, don’t you? :)

So if I say, “I let my guard down,” that means “I was being myself”?

Yay, my multitudes of threads are interesting? haha. :)

You make it sound like a good thing, to let your guard down.

Usually letting one’s guard down means they “lower their defenses” and become more trusting of something or someone. Like in a bad relationship, sometimes people will say “I let my guard down and she took advantage of me,” meaning they didn’t put up the barriers necessary to remain safe in the situation – the barriers were lowered and they were harmed. Usually the phrase refers to emotions or trust.

i dont think blythe’s is that correct (unless there is another meaning i haven’t heard of)- legendofmax’s definition is actually the right one (in opinion)… even though in the end it sort of says the same thing… lol

yeah, legendofmax’s “lower the defences” is the better definition
