What does it mean when a department advisor writes you a letter to get in..

<p>I know the title was vague.</p>

<p>What does it mean when the department head has an interview with you, says he likes you and wants you in the program, puts a letter in your application file stating his recommendation for your acceptance into the program. </p>

<p>Is this an auto accept? Has this happened to anyone else?</p>

<p>If it was an auto-accept, he would have told you so.</p>

<p>It basically just means he has thrown his support behind you. You have strong chances of admissions now, but your chances have not gone up to 100%.</p>
