I am very interested in becoming a New York State DECA officer, but I am not entirely sure what it takes to be eligible to run. I did some research and this is what I could come up with:

1.) I would take an exam during the Fall Leadership Conference and I need a 75 or above to qualify

2.) The test is based on Roberts Rules of Order, NYDECA Competitive Events manual, National
Officer Candidate Guidelines, NY DECA Constitution, NY DECA history and resource guide, Issues of Connection, Communicator, or Dimension from the previous school year

3.) Theres something with a brag sheet but I have no idea what that is

4.) Theres a limit to how much you can spend campaigning ($200.00)

5.) The Officer exam consists of one or more essays

6.) You can make a portfolio

7.) You can secure a booth at state competition as part of your $200.00 campaign limit

8.) You need to attend a certain amount of conferences once you get the position

9.) There’s something to do with getting 70 points

Could I still run if I cannot make one of the conferences and I do not have 70 points? Also, are the conferences run on weekdays or weekends? They were a total of 31 days when I added them up and I don’t think I would be able to miss that much school next year.

I found all of this information on the New York DECA website, but I may be misinterpreting it. Please respond if you know anything about the DECA state officer process.
