<p>What I mean by a good college is under 50 in rank. What does it take?? (what kind of accomplishments, awards, grades, etc.)</p>
<p>Ok so the top schools are the Ivy’s. First thing is that Ivy’s do not give athletic or academic scholarships. They give financial aid to those that need it but they do not give scholarships. So, we have Ivy’s out of the way. Now, for a top 50 (even though there isn’t necessarily a “top 50” list of schools because some schools are more advanced than others at a specific program) schools, you will apply for scholarships that can range in value. They will mostly depend on your academic standing from high school, extra-curriculars, and leadership characteristics. For these scholarships, they really want to see what makes you different than the normal applicant or student. These schools (wherever you want to apply to) want to see that the community is as important as academics to you and that you are a leader in making it happen. Many will ask for speeches of the top 5% of the applicants for a big scholarship that makes it that far and they want to see your public speaking skills and a lot of your personality. It is important to set yourself apart and say talk about what you are passionate about and not just say what the school wants to hear. Whew! and those were only apart of merit scholarships. For athletic scholarships, please note that D-I sports schools are usually the only ones to give athletic scholarships, let alone full ride scholarships. So, of course, you have to be very good at your sport and carry good grades as well. I hope I helped and good luck wherever you apply.</p>
