What does it take to get into Duke?

I was just wondering.

Very wealthy parents, in the cases I know of.

yea, huge boost if parents are actors because they tend to raise up duke’s alumni donation count but good grades and ecs work also =D
edit: just some rumor that duke at some time heavily admitted actor’s offsprings

Different for every school. At S’s high school it takes a 4.4 weighted GPA and 2300 SAT scores.

At my S’s school you have just have to be a top athlete with an 89/100 GPA and 1300 SATs. (Oh, but that’s right, he flunked out.)

But seriously, here are the stats they report:

SAT scores (25/75 percentile):
Verbal:
670 – 760
Math:
690 – 780
Combined:
1360 – 1540

ACT scores (25/75 percentile):
English:
N/A
Math:
N/A
Composite:
29 – 33

Top 10 percent of high school class:
88%
Top 25 percent of high school class:
97%
Top 50 percent of high school class:
99%

(No GPA reported.)

Do you play lacrosse?

babar, darkhope, suppasonic- Y’all are just a wealth of information, aren’t you?

CaveMan, there was an excellent Chronicle article outlining Duke admission last year- well worth a read.

cheer duke =D !

ok ok ok ok darkhope what are you doing

Duke’s the BEST, seriously.

I don’t have great SAT scores (1300) or a great GPA 3.7 but I have pretty interesting story and when the Dean of Duke Medical School read one of those stories he decided to write me a letter of reccomendation to Duke and Princeton where he went to school for Undergrad and where his children go now.

Now I wait.
