what does it take?

can you even get in with a 3.8 1400?

its a 3.8 uw and 1400 on the old SAT, not the new one. so, yes, you can get in with those scores.

Yes, but not likely if you don’t have a major hook.

is it unlikely to get into dartmouth with a 3.8 UW and 1400 old sat?

No, of course you can get in with that. But you are not only your grades and your scores. It’s a lot more complicated a decision that just that.

I applied ED with a little under a 3.8 UW and a 31 ACT (that is around a 1400 old SAT). I also have a lot of meaningful EC’s, am captain of three varisty sports, and I am a URM.

A 3.8/1400 is considerably below average. Given that 60% of every class is hooked, getting in with below average stats without a hook is unlikely.

what do you consider a hook?

Recruited athlete, URM, legacy, development, national/international level achievements.
