What does maximum/minimum credits mean for eligibility?

If a college says that the maximum credits from a 4-year is 20, does that mean that if an applicant will have more than 20 credits by the time he matriculates at the college he transfered to, then he’d be retroactively ineligible?

Does credits in excess of the minimum work in the applicant’s favor? Or would he be setting himself up for self-destruction (i.e., in-excess-of-maximum-credits-allowable caused ineligibility to apply again for matriculation at another college in his junior year should he fail in his soph-fall matriculation pursuit?).

Not necessarily, it could mean that only a maximum of 20 credits will transfer over. Check with the school to be sure.

Everything is looked at contextually. If you are applying as a junior transfer, you will obviously have more credits, but to say that that will give the applicant an edge is naive, as there are so many variables in the application process.

More credits than other applicants seeking admission for the same year (soph v soph, jr v jr).
