what does * mean in the commencement booklet?

For the 2014 commencement booklet, some names have an asterisk * next to their name. Is that for Latin honors?

I mean are the asterisk for people who’ve received honor distinctions?

Really? No ok one knows…

How do you already have the booklet?

Look and see what the key says. It should be at the bottom of the lists, on the first page, or last page. It could mean anything they want it to mean. Honors seems like a good guess, but if they want you to know, they need to add a key to the symbols, italics, underlining or whatever methods they use.

in my son’s commencent booklet the asterisk next to honor’s students names meant the honors designation (cum laude etc) was dependent on final grades.

FYI the asterisk was for students who donated to the senior gift campaign, not for honors or distinction.
