What does a SAT score (just under 1100/1600) actually prove for a student with a high GPA in International Baccalaureate courses? The low SAT scorre is probably the only criteria keeping the student from more selective college acceptances, but the student is so smart and successful in many other things.

It simply shows how well one can answer multiple-choice questions in the subjects of math, critical reading, and writing. For some people, success at this kind of test comes naturally, while others have to take some time to prepare for it.

Low scores on standardized tests coupled with a high GPA may imply that some grade inflation took place.

The SAT isn’t the most important thing that colleges consider in a student’s application, but it still counts. The stats seem quite lopsided in this case at least.

The SAT pretty much shows how well you take the SAT, but sadly, most colleges don’t realize this. With that low a score, I would retake to improve the chances at more selective colleges. Never give them an easy reason to reject you!
