What does the ACT measure that’s different from the SAT? Should I take them at the same time?

I would not suggest taking both in the same month. They are different tests that require different preparation. What year are you in school currently? What math, science, and English are you taking?

SAT is very much about test taking strategy and the ACT is very much about what you’ve learned in the classroom. Also the SAT tests at a lower level of math than the ACT.

If you decide to take the ACT, be sure to take the one “with writing”. You may still need to take SAT subject tests though and those are best taken at the end of the school year after completing the corresponding class.

HTH.

You don’t need to worry about this until AT LEAST sophomore year, more likely junior year.
