I completely disagree. Four of my friends transferred into Medill, and actually one of those was from MEAS. A successful transfer into Medill after the first quarter typically requires substantial journalism experience to show that the student is serious about it. Transferring into Medill PRIOR to matriculation, however, is just a matter of phoning the office; in my Medill peer advising group at least two of the 14 students had been accepted to a different NU school and transferred to journalism during the summer before freshman year. It’s really not a rare occurrence or difficult process if you know journalism is what you want to do.
