Hi,
UC Berkeley asked me to send 2 letters of recommendation about a week ago. None of my friends in California got the email for recommendations. All of my friends in Oregon, however, got it. Even the ones who don’t have good grades. Does UCB prefer OOS students?
Also, does this mean I am on the borderline or I’m definitely in? Or, was this just random?
Nobody knows yet, since this is something new UCB implemented this year. They do prefer OOS students since they pay full price, but this year OOS and internationals are capped at 20% at admission.
Is it a new law? If so, then it will be easier for instate students to get in this year. Right?
Hopefully
While they like OOS students because they pay $55,000/year, in state students get preference because California residents pay for the UC system through taxes.
There are a million threads on LORs. Right now it’s clear nobody knows what it means.
