<p>The final grade in the class must be within one letter grade of the final exam grade. (e.g. student gets A’s in all homework and midterm exams - bombs the final and gets a D on it. The final grade for the class can be no higher than a C.) That seems to be a Pitt math department policy. I’m not sure what the intent of that policy is, unless it’s to emphasize the importance of the final exam.</p>
