So I called the admissions office today because I was afraid that I had accidentally thrown out my acceptance letter without a second glance; they said that they sent it out 9/30, and well…today’s 10/12. I’m dumb. I had gotten the email on 10/2 but I didn’t check my email until the 8th. I also received a pretty large dark-blue(?) envelope with images on it from Pitt like on the 3rd…and I’m worried that was it.
When we called the office today they said to wait a little more, but I’m extremely worried now. I’m a senior in New Jersey and I also applied for pre-pharm; I read somewhere that there’s a follow-up letter to students admitted to pre-pharm and now I’m worried that I applied to the wrong thing since I haven’t gotten that letter either. What does the acceptance letter look like and when should the second letter arrive (if anyone knows?)
Now this was two years ago, but my D’s acceptance letter was in a big (like printer paper size 8×11) white envelope with the Cathedral of Learning on the front, University of Pittsburgh’s seal, and Congratulations! written on it.
Have you checked with a neighbor if they accidentally got it? I would wait a few more days and then call Pitt next week.
It will be ok, but you will be getting lots of emails and letters so make sure to read them.
Thanks for your responses! Wow, have I learned from this ordeal…I just really didn’t expect to hear anything back so quickly because I sent in my application only two weeks before they sent out the letter…completely my fault for not checking…
I hope the acceptance letter is still white…because the thing I received in the mail was definitely dark blue so maybe it was just promotional material! I’m keeping my fingers crossed!
Butteredlettuce, that was it. My daughter’s hard copy acceptance letter just arrived in the mail yesterday in a large, dark blue envelope with a photo of the Catheral of Learning on it. Not a big deal that you thre yours out, tho. Just call the school and let the admissions office know what happened, and the office will send you a new one. The most important thing is that you were accepted! Also, you learned a painless lesson.

Except, in the letter it says that “more information is attached” in regards to applying and stuff. Is there more stuff that was in the acceptance package? We’re thinking of heading down to UPitt if there is…

Oh my gosh this is so late! I’m not even sure if this’ll help at all, but here’s the stuff I remember!
Weighted GPA: 4.31 (my school doesn’t do unweighted, but I think mine’s about a 3.4?)
AP’s taken senior year: Calc BC, Psych, Lit, Physics 1
Total amount of APs including senior year: 6
Old SAT: 2230, ACT: 35
I forget if I sent in my subject tests or not…I probably didn’t, but assuming I did, I got 770 for Chem and 800 for Math II! Sorry for the really late response!
