What Ethnicity Am I?

I’m from a Middle Eastern country, but I’m not white. At least, I don’t think I am. What should I do? Just go with white and Middle Eastern?

I’m not from an Arab country, but it’s definitely the Middle East.

At least, my parents are from a Middle Eastern country. I was born here.

Middle Eastern is a subset of Caucasian on the CommonApp.

I’m part Turkish, and that’s what I’m doing. I don’t agree with the traditional lumping of Europeans and Middle Easterners together either, but at least this allows you to say specifically that you’re Middle Eastern.

It is weird, but for the US government, no matter how brown you really are, they consider you white.

US census bureau standards: <<…people of Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Israel, Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, all Arab Gulf states, Yemen, Oman, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia and Morocco are White Caucasians >>

Also: <<the us="" census="" bureau="" does="" not="" recognize="" any="" racial="" difference="" between="" indians="" (from="" india),="" thais,="" indonesians,="" chinese,="" and="" ainu="" of="" japan="">></the>
