What exactly counts as as "Educational Misconduct"

When applying to Fsu they ask

“Are you currently, or have you ever been, charged with or subject to disciplinary action for scholastic or any other type of behavioral misconduct at any educational institution? You do not need to disclose academic dismissal, suspension, or probation for poor grades.”

I received one day of In school suspension (ISS) for being tardy, and I don’t know if that counts as “behavioral misconduct”

Frankly, I don’t think it would matter. If you disclose it no school will hold something so trivial against you.

Ask your counselor if that would even be released to colleges- if it wouldn’t be, no need to put it.

I would think that if you don’t need to report an out-of-school suspension, that you would not need to report an ISS. Colleges are more concerned with major transgressions - drug dealing on campus, hazing, etc. They don’t care about any disciplinary actions due to tardiness, sneaking off campus, smoking in the boys room, etc.

I would not classify being tardy as educational misconduct. Certainly you can check with your guidance counselor.

yeah… that infamous threat “This is going to go on your record!” is mostly a bunch of baloney. See post #3
