What does this mean? How do I get into the management school?

it means you do a two year core curriculum and for you junior year, provided you meet the requrired gpa, you would go into management. the downside is you cannot transfer before your junior year though and you dont get to pick classes

What if I wanted to transfer out to another school after freshman year?

Another school as in another university all together

lol yeah I got the same thing…must be the ebay thing…lol

Jsmooth, check PM please.

Anyway, CGS just means that you were deferred from the school you applied to because you didnt meet their requirements, or they didnt see you fit for it.

Dont take this personally, as many kids apply to CGS directly and dont even get in there. The other schools, like CAS and Management are just much more competitive. You still get a BU degree and the prestige of the school.

Plus, CGS is a 2 year program. Assuming you maintain an acceptable GPA, you can transfer into any BU school you choose.

you were placed in cgs instead of smg because the admissions panel believe you need a little extra push, so to say, before you enter the colleges at BU. my friends in cgs don’t say they program is easy and oftentimes it seems like they’re doing more work than me.

you get 1 on 1 with all of your professors and the cgs class [meaning class year] is split into a few sections of like 70 or so people each … it isn’t bad. the admissions people just think you need to bring yourself up to a level before the other bu colleges.

after sophomore year you can transfer into ANY college within the university and you’ll get in, very few people don’t and that is because they didn’t focus on their school work.

most people LOVE cgs so i wouldn’t set my heart on transferring right away.

Transferring from CGS into SMG will be super easy. Your requirements are significantly lower compared to if you transferred from CAS or COM into SMG (completely unfair but that’s my opinion). Your sophomore year you will take SM299 which isn’t as bad as everyone says and you have to get a C. Also, your cumulative GPA has to be greater than or equal to 2.3 (this is from CGS so this really shouldn’t be hard).

Unless you take summer course, you will be a semester behind everyone in your year. You can still graduate on time without taking a summer course though, except sometimes if you want to double concentrate.

One last thing, and I don’t say this in a mean way but just stating a fact, you will probably be looked down upon for going to CGS. CGS in general judged so don’t get upset if you hear jokes or people give you a slightly off look when you say you’re in it. Its not “right” but its the fact of life and a stigma definitely exists.
