I am currently 18 years old and renting a room not at my legal guardian’s house, but when I was 16 I began living with my legal guardian who was appointed by the court in Georgia. I don’t have any paperwork besides the letter the judge gave me that I had to use to register for school, go to the doctor, etc. I don’t know what to answer for this question?
(Also, as a side note, what do I do for “permanent address” once I graduate? I am very much on my own and I do not have a stable year-round address for mail.)
If you had a court-appointed guardianship, you will be independent for federal aid purposes. Your school will most likely ask you to provide a copy of the letter from the judge.
If you do not have a permanent address, use your current address. You can update the address as you move around.
Sorry for your situation … it sounds like you have had a rough time.
