What exactly is a series?

So I’m on Assist and it says:
"If a series of courses at a community college is required (e.g., English 1A + 1B

  • 103 = English R1A and R1B), all the courses in the series must be completed,
and must (unless otherwise indicated) be completed at the same community
college. Partial completion (e.g., 2 of the 3 required courses) will result in
zero credit toward the requirement(s), and the applicant will NOT be considered
    for admission."

Later on, it says:
"Required core courses: (all these courses must be completed to be considered for
admission)

UCB Biology 1B

UCB Chem 1A/L

UCB Chem 1B or Physics 7C

UCB Math 1A, 1B

UCB Math 53, 54

UCB Physics 7A, 7B

UCB English R1A and R1B"

If I am planning to take the equivalent of Physics 7C to fulfill my prerequisites, would UCB Chem 1B or Physics 7C be its own series or is UCB Physics 7A, 7B, and 7C the series?

7A, B, And C is the series.

A series is a group of classes that are meant to be taken in succession or together, in general. For example, if one is required to complete the calculus series for a give major, then one would have to take Calculus I, Calculus II, and Calculus III(Calculus III is also known as “multivariable calculus”). Often, lower-level classes in a series are prerequisites for the higher-level classes, but this isn’t always the case.

I hope that answers your question.

A series is a combination of courses required to satisfy a single requirement.
For example, DVC’s combination of MATH 194 and MATH 294 is a series that satisfies UC Berkeley’s MATH 54. You must take both MATH 194 and MATH 294 at DVC to get credit for MATH 54; you cannot take MATH 194 at DVC and MATH 294 at another college.

I think @LaysOriginal has it right.

“Often, lower-level classes in a series are prerequisites for the higher-level classes, but this isn’t always the case.”

Just want to make sure. I took MATH-192, MATH-193, and MATH-292 at DVC. I took the equivalent to DVC’s ENGIN-136 (MATH-111 at Ohlone College), which has a prerequisite of DVC’s MATH-192. Is ENGIN-136 part of the series?
