What exactly is an academic teacher?

<p>I mean, could I use my Creative Writing teacher?</p>

<p>I’m planning on being a Lit major, and I do more writing and reading in Creative Writing than I do in English; the CW teacher is more familiar with my personality and writing. </p>

<p>So I really want to use her (she came to me and told me she’d be happy to write a rec for me, so I know I can), but according to the Smith app, you have to use academic teachers.</p>

<p>I’ve emailed the admissions people asking them, but I’m not sure when they’ll answer so I’d like to know how probable it is that CW will count as an academic class.</p>

<p>I think that would be fine, whereas a debate, drama, or music teacher would not.</p>

<p>Yeah, I’m pretty sure they mean any academic discipline so if creative writing falls under some sort of English category, it should count.</p>
