^^ Same.
What the heck?

Haha. At my school it’s whatever, depending on what teacher you get you can play board games, or you can read… Mainly it’s homework.

Umh, at my school free period and study hall is two different things. A free period is a FREE period meaning you have no class and is free to do whatever you want. Study hall means you have to study, after every study hall you need to report what you did during class. It’s just like any other class, you need to be quiet and still unless you’re doing a group project.( And in that case you’ll be asigned an empty classroom).

At my school “study skills” is the study hall, and you basically have a class with a teacher where you just do homework. A free period is different where you just don’t have a class. Same as Linn I guess.

Hahahahahaha, okay, I just laughed for about 10 minutes straight.

Greenhouses? Going downtown? Eating? Honestly, the study halls at our school seem like detention some time. I had one where all we could do was be quiet and work on homework, no talking. Then the next year we could have iPods our. Yay. Man, my school sucks.

Wow! My school’s study hall is like Biggie_Smalls’. It was in the cafeteria when I was in it:/ We didn’t even have a devoted room haha, so there would always be food all over the tables. We had to be quiet and work on homework the whole time. We couldn’t listen to music or anything:/

OMG, my school has a garden and NO ONE gets to go in there. They say eco club and botany class go in there, but it’s such a lie.

At my school, if it’s first or last bell, you can come late or leave early, but only if you’re a junior or senior.

Otherwise, you generally have to sit in the designated room, which is usually the lunch room. The suckiness of it depends on your teacher, but I think it’s gotten worse. They used to just say you couldn’t listen to your iPod, now you actually can’t, and they get mad and take it if you do. And some teachers don’t even let you sleep. Every teacher hates having study hall duty, so they’re really mean in it.
If you have something that needs to be done in the library, you can go there and do it, but they can only take maybe 30 people per bell, and if there’s something else going on, they can’t take any.

Really, if you get stuck having a study hall, which is what it seems like, I don’t think that many people, especially before senior year, choose to have one, your best bet is to become a “student helper.” Some people who become student helpers sign up to be one with the office or with certain teachers, and then they have to do a lot of work, but most kids (I think) sign up with teachers who will let them sleep/listen to iPods. I’m helping my Calc BC teacher from last year, so she doesn’t make me do anything, the kids in her class are cool and a lot are my friends, she has a comfy room, and she’s pretty lax.

Study hall is basically a time to do homework. Except for me, I have mathletes study hall so I do math during that hour.
