What exactly is UCRs minimum gpa requirement?

I’m currently getting all Bs in my classes, but getting a D…possibly an F in spanish 5-6. On UCRs website, they said that getting a D or F in spanish 5-6 won’t automatically revoke my admission since it’s an excess a-g course…but if the D or F brings my gpa below eligibility…then my admission will be canceled…my question is, what is UCRs gpa requirement?

the minimum GPA for all UCs is 3.0, but the average GPA for UCR is I think around 3.3…I’m not sure though

What classes are you getting D’s and F’s in?

“they said that getting a D or F in spanish 5-6 won’t automatically revoke my admission since it’s an excess a-g course”

What do you mean by that? I’m just a little curious… =]

My friend also got D or F in AT BIO (not AP BIO). But UCR still let him in. I don’t think it really matters only if that class is required. But best way is call UCR and ask them.

What was his GPA? SAT scores? Competitive HS? Good essay? Life difficulties/Financial Situation?

Was he a very intellectural student? Did he retake Biology during the summer or skool yr?

I hope what you are saying is correct because that would give me a little breathing room…

I don’t think he had too good of GPA. I think he had…2.4? 2.8 at max. (Yeah…I have no idea how he got in…) I don’t think he had good SAT score either. In my guess…at max…1200? (at 1600 max score) But I highly doubt that he got that high… and he didn’t retake the bio class. HS was pretty competitve. I don’t know about his essay since I didn’t read his, and I don’t think he had any life difficulties or finacial problem.
But then, this happened 2 yrs ago.

During the class of 2002, UC system was very loose in admitting students. My friend had like below 3.5 but above 3.0 gpa and got into UCIrvine. Now the standards have gotten higher due to budget cuts (Arnold) & overpopulation.

Do you know any1 with that similar kind of situation that apply to the UC system in FALL of 2003 or later ?

UCR has been known to admit people with scores lower than a 3.0, but with SAT scores higher than a 1300 (out of 1600). But now the UC’s are attempting to cut back admissions greatly. I think UCR will now strictly enforce the 3.0 cutoff since the UC schools are trying to take the percentage of California high school graduates who are admitted to UC schools from 14% to 10%. So I would imagine that even UCR would be difficult to get into within the next three years.
