I must have been a very good girl this year because I got some beautiful gifts. Three small antique Limoges porcelain boxes that are absolutely lovely, from my mom and dad. To continue the antique theme, an 18th century watercolor family register in its original frame, from my H. And a favorite repeat gift from one of my Ds, a book-a-month delivery from Loganberry’s Book Shop. Lots of other great things, too, but those were the special and unique ones.
H obviously loves the sous vide and food saver. Both were out of their boxes this morning and he is making plans to try it today on some leftover slices of prime rib.
@zeebamom I would love to hear how it goes for him . I haven’t tried mine yet
D2 framed some photos of our trip to Italy this summer. She is a very good photographer. Every time I look at them will remind me of good time we had.
S1 got S2 and me 100-level seats to the Caps-Blackhawks game in January. We have always been in the nosebleed seats, so this will be a treat! I’m amazed and impressed that S1 thought of a sporting event, because he is as disinterested in sports as is DH.
DH and I have not exchanged anything yet for Hanukkah or my birthday. I want to get a nice set of pots and pans for him, but it’s hard to find anything reasonable that has solid lids (not glass). I have a couple of ideas – wide angle lens or a small TV for the quilt room, which would involve adding a cable box (boo Comcast).
CD, why don’t u like glass lids? My to-go-to pot has glass lid.
My son says he has been making potato latkes with hand grater.,I looked up my 8 cup Cuisart grater, and it now costs $100. WosEy. Any suggestions?
@bookworm I use a salad shooter for potato latkes

Bookworm, we keep pans forever. Glass lids that don’t fit the old pans can break! We’ve had a couple glass lids that shattered while cooking because they weren’t a snug fit.
I got an Amazon Echo, and like everyone else who gets one, I promptly ordered toilet paper. I wonder how many orders for toilet paper Amazon got on Christmas morning; had to be record numbers.
Both kids and both their significant others came to our place for Christmas. That would be the best present, but it got even better. Everyone pitched in with cooking and cleanup and, best of all, whenever we went out to eat one or the other kid always beat me to picking up the check.
Best Christmas ever.
CD, Scanpan Classic glass lids are indestructible. The pots are pretty darn good, too.
The best present was that we had all 4 kids home together for the first time in several years as well as our newish grandson. Priceless! As a bonus the kids got me a bottle tree- I saw one when I visited my son in Denver and loved it and he remembered! My Mom got me an iRobot Roomba and I LOVE it!
My kids all got together and recreated a dozen childhood photos, printed them, and gave them to me for Christmas. I laughed so hard, I cried. They were really, really funny. That all 7 kids managed to cooperate and secretly make these at the last minute is practically a miracle. Best gift ever.
Glad to have both kids here. Best gift!
In terms of other gifts…let’s just say that next year, I’m buying and wrapping some for myself so I have something to open!
If you buy and wrap throughout the year, you may forget what you bought and be happily surprised at Christmas!
The only ‘fun’ gift I got as from my son, he got me a subscription on amazon to the concert service they have (he got my wife the acorn channel, with all the british stuff). I also got a replacement for the Jets jacket I had (it was a premium from Sports Illustrated years ago, that was falling apart) but little about being a Jets fan is fun:)
Ooh Acorn
We were able to spend Christmas with my parents and MIL ( all in their 80’s) who live 700+ miles away. And we got our parents and siblings to pose for family pictures.
My older son got me Google Home and I’m enjoying it!
