Many would consider my weekly lobster a splurge, but at less than $10/lb, I feel like it’s a healthy, high protein, easy ( the grocery store cooks it for me) dinner.
What a fun thread. ![]()
Last year, we took a family vacation to London and Paris, and DH and I and our three college-aged kids all like our personal space. London has a hotel called Hub by Premier Inn with tiny rooms, so I booked FIVE of them, one for each of us. Best decision ever – nobody kept awake by snoring, nobody having to share a bathroom, nobody having to put up with my son’s pigpen tendencies, LOL.
My goal is to splurge on a trip to Japan and fly Delta One – the pod seats in first class that lie completely flat. We can’t afford that for our whole family, but maybe someday – one can dream!
I love steamed lobster. It’s over $20/lb around where I am, but I will still splurge on it sometime.
I live in a walkable neighborhood with many small businesses including retail, service and restaurants/coffee shops. One of my splurges is to shop/eat at the local businesses even if it costs a few dollars more. Most of these are owned by residents in our community.
My husband’s huge splurge a few years ago was selling his 35 year old boat that took a crew to manage and buy smaller boat he can handle alone. He goes out fishing at least once week. Sea Bass is the favorite catch with fluke a close second. I guess the boat saves us money as we almost never have to buy fish. ![]()
Our biggest recent splurge was putting in a wine cellar (and subsequently filling said cellar).
Do you need more? I have some special bottles I am looking to rehome
@jym626 - do you ship?
I have some bottles of red wine that were given to me and whose value is now somewhere between $500 to $1000. ShawD is now allergic to red wine and I am staying off wine as a result of a couple of bouts of gout. Not sure what to do with them.
They are super popular auction items for any non-profit that includes a silent auction as part of their gala. Tax deduction for you and a nice splurge for a supporter of the organization!
Good idea.
For the right price!
We’re splurging on our hotel room in Napa next month.
