For sororities? Bid day is on Sunday, so what should we expect for the following week/weekend as far as events and parties go?

you will get the schedule of events on your “bid night” and they will give you a packet of papers to sign, etc. you will have mixers (panhel limited last year the amount we can have per week) and you will have sisterhood events to get to know the women in your pledge class. keep in mind that all of the houses do this differently.

but be prepared to have fun!!

what about for fraternities?

mixers with sororities. and pledging. getting to know the brothers ^^

lots of mixers and hazing… get pumped

would that be everyday, or just the weekends or something

Do mixers ever end up getting repetitive and annoying after you’ve been to a ton of them?

As a mother of a junior who is in a sorority, I would like to point out that it was a challenge for my daughter to do everything - sorority obligations and schoolwork freshman semester. If it’s possible try to take “easier” courses, especially for guys. That been said, my daughter had a great time and she got to meet a lot of kids she otherwise wouldn’t have. The mixers didn’t get repetitive because fraternities tried to come up with interesting themes to get those girls to come. My daughter’s sorority had one almost every night (sometimes there were multiples), but on weeknights she would only go for an hour or so.

She is interviewing for summer internship now, and almost all of them require minimum 3.5 GPA. It is not something you think of when you are a freshman, so have fun, but try to keep that in mind when you are partying. As a parent, I think it has been a positive experience for my daughter. Interesting enough, my daughter said her recent “group interviews” at iBanks were like sorority rush - can’t be a wall flower, have to appear enthusiastic, appear put together in front of decision makers. She said rush was harder though.:)

Does anyone know how demanding it is on weekdays for fraternities? I can handle anything on weekends, and I tend to be a fairly big partier, but I plan to take 5 classes this semester and I’m worried that I won’t be able to sustain a high gpa (I got a 3.6 last semester but want around a 3.8 this one). I had a significant amount of free time last semester though.
