What Happens after you recieve a disclosure statement?

I recieved a disclosure statement with expected fund disbursement dates…now what’s next? Im confused??

You are not giving much information – but it sounds like your college’s financial aid department has sent you the dates on which your financial aid (grants and loans) would be deposited into your checking account (or applied to your fees). This is important because some students access that money to buy books or pay rent and students and families need to know if rent is due on the First and disbursement is going to be on the Fifth.

Go to the financial aid page of your college website and read through the FAQ’s section. There may also be a site listed on the disclosure statement. Read the fine print, front and back on the statement. You are responsible for knowing the details.

You can also email the fin aid department and ask if there is someone there who could spend some time talking with you to explain the process.

Please don’t go on a shopping spree on the day money is deposited (a common error made by freshmen). The money isn’t for college clothing or dorm room decorations!

And, as a college student, remember “i before e, except after c, or when it sounds like an A, as in neighbor and weigh”. You received a letter. Don’t throw away the easy points.
