What happens if I fail a self-studied AP exam?

Hi, so this year I have signed up to take self-studied two AP exams, AP Comp Sci and AP World History. I think I have prepared well enough for World History to get a good score, but unfortunately I procrastinated on studying for the Computer Science exam and am worried that I will do poorly despite my current cramming.

My question is what will happen if I take the computer science exam and fail it. Will it hurt my college app? I have already registered and paid to take both exams, but I don’t want to risk hurting my college app by failing the Comp Sci exam.

So will failing the Comp Sci hurt my college application, even if it was a self-studied exam? How are AP scores reported to colleges?

Thanks for your responses!

if it turns out to be that bad, just cancel the score afterwards. shouldn’t be a big deal

Just don’t self report it in the application. It would not affect your admission as long as you do not submit the score. Most students would not submit AP scores for application anyway. No one even know you have self-studied that class and took the test.

Thanks for the feedback.

I’m probably going to take it this year, and if I fail cancel/not report my score, and then just retake it next year.
