What happens if you miss the transcript submit deadline?

Hey guys,

Some of you may remember my post a short while ago about the possibility that I may be rescinded. If you’re interested, you can read about that here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/941879-possibly-getting-rescinded-help.html

Now, I have been working feverishly to resolve this issue, and I have come up with a solution, or at least what I believe to be a solution. However, I am running into some snags, so I need some advice. Remember, my problem was that I had a 2.64 gpa for my Spring 2010 semester, and Berkeley wants a 3.0 for the last semester. Here is what I have gotten done so far:

*Had Anthropology teacher agree to let me write a long paper that will earn me an A in her class. This brings my Spring GPA to a 2.89
*Had Chemistry teacher agree to allow me to re-take the Final. If I get an A on it, he will change my grade to an A, and my Spring GPA will be 3.16.
*I completed the Anthropology paper, and emailed it to my teacher last week.
*I am taking my Chemistry Final today.
*I have still not gone before the board at Berkeley, because I wanted to see if this stuff worked out.

I’m sure you’re thinking “WOW he really doesn’t have much time.” And you’re right. My teacher needs to grade the chem final today, and have the grade changed by at least 7/13 or 7/14. I have a friend in the counselors office who can get me my transcript instantly after the teachers update my grade.

However, what happens to me if I should miss the deadline? How long can people go before the board? Do I need to send my 2.64 transcript right now just in case, even though my grades are about to be changed? Say I miss the deadline…what happens to me? I heard that you can turn it in up to August 1, but your admissions may be in jeopardy if you miss it. Anyone know how strict really they are about that??

All advice welcome,
Thanks

I don’t think its a big deal for Berkeley students. I know fellow CCers have said that at UCI and UCD orientation their admissions department said they will do anything to revoke admissions, including submitting late transcripts, because they have admitted too many.

HOWEVER, for Berkeley it just says: “If we still have not received your transcript(s) by late July, you will find a “Submit Missing Admissions Documents” notice in your home page Next Steps and on your Checklist in myBerkeleyApplication.” No biggie!!

Besides, my transcript might get there late. Why? Well, I ordered my transcript when I received my acceptance letter (I chose “send after Spring grades are out”) but they failed to tell me I needed to fax my signature until a few days ago. I immediately reported this info to my admissions officer and she was very understanding of my situation (she just told me she wrote a note next to my name that I informed her that my transcript may arrive late - that’s it)!

I suggest:

 1. inform your admissions officer that you are waiting for a late regrade or whatever excuse you think would sound acceptable…haha…
 2. wait until your teacher updates the new grades THEN order the transcript!

anyone know if UCSD will revoke admissions if transcripts aren’t received on time or this only applies to UCI and UCD?

@foothill Thanks bud  That certainly puts my heart to rest a bit. I’m still going to do all I can to get the transcripts in by July 15, but at least now I know that if a teacher doesn’t come through in time I still have a chance.

@uc transfer Sorry, I don’t know

Oh yeah my admissions officer is Evelyn as well! Just call her and tell her what’s up. She’s nice. :)

…wow. A chem final retake?

@sunny Ya. Honestly I think there was some mistake in the final grades. Going into the final, the professor said my grade was high enough that If I had gotten an A on it, I would have had an A in the class. On all the other tests last semester, I had either A’s or B’s. Even after I had taken the final, I thought it was easy, and I thought I had aced it. But he said I got a 70%. It didn’t make sense. I got an 87 in the class cause of that 70%.

So I asked him if I could retake it, and he agreed, mostly because all my other test scores were so much higher - it didn’t make sense, you know?
