i have a cd player, and up until this point i thought it worked perfectly fine. but now that i go to test it just to make sure, it won’t play discs.

i can’t go out and get one at the moment because, unfortunately for me, my mom is a very dedicated seventh day adventist and won’t allow me to buy something on the “sabbath”. my dad will not take me either. so…am i pretty much screwed here or what?

also, i’d like to add, that it’s STUPID to require students to bring a CD player. this is the year TWO THOUSAND TEN. 2010. WHO EVEN HAS A FUNCTIONING CD PLAYER ANYMORE?

sorry, just had to put that out there. so, has anyone experienced this problem before? /:

Today’s Friday though…it’s not the Sabbath…? I’m really confused, I’m a Catholic and our holy day is “Sunday”, and isn’t Seventh-Day-Adventist Christian as well?

Regardless, I agree the policy does seem a bit flawed, I have to agree. Ask to borrow one from a friend though? I’m sure one of your friends has one. I’m sorry that’s very unfortunate.

seventh day adventist’s believe that the sabbath is saturday, like the jews do.

also like the jews, they believe that the end/beginning of a day is marked at sunset. therefore, sabbath lasts from sunset on friday to sunset on saturday.

all of these beliefs are right, that is if you believe in the bible and all. the sabbath is on saturday etc etc, but i’m not going to get into all that.

back to the topic (sorry 'bout that) my friends and i don’t live close to each other plus none of them are taking the SAT tomorrow so i can’t ask them to bring me one, if they even had one, which i doubt they would

ugh. it’s just so dumb. i told my dad and even HE agreed that it’s dumb. he even asked me if i was sure that i was reading the paper right. but there it is, it clearly says you need a cd player. absolutely ridiculous.

/: oh well, thanks for trying to help me though!
