What becomes of your personal life when you hit the military life at the academy? Is there a college radio? Is there a glee club? Theatre program? Where will we find time to invest in these things?

There are a lot of different clubs and opportunities here for hobbies and interests; of course, not during Beast! The glee club is very popular and well-known, and the Theatre program I hear is fantastic. I’m pretty sure there is a college radio too. For the different choirs, those will be initially auditioned for during the second and third weeks of Beast. Interviews for Sunday School teaching positions and other religious organization leadership positions are done by the different chaplains and religious student organizations. Look at the USMA website for more info on the various clubs and activities.

There is a radio, and altogether I think there are eight singing groups. TAG (Theatre Arts Guild) is not so active, but you can always start something back up. There’s time and room for anything you make a priority. I have a friend who knitted, croched, did tile, painted, drew, and made her own wedding gown…all in her room. Not bad :). Here’s a list of clubs, if you’re interested…

And they’re GREAT about supporting new efforts, as long as you find a sponsor. I was part of a rather short lived acapella group plebe year…which was really a subset from Catholic Choir…but it was fun! There was also a band that played at the Firstie and at Paradise Club…you’ll have time for yourself and your own interests.
