What has happened to Target? And customer service in general.

I have two positive service experiences. I inquired about an item at Trader Joe’s that was not in stock. The manager took my name and number, called me when they came in, and held it for me at customer service.

I asked the produce manager at our local Harris Teeter grocery store if they had any Sweet Tango apples. He said no. I told him I had bought some a week earlier at the Wegmans about 40 minutes away. He said he lived near that Wegmans and he would buy some for me. I could pick them up at the store at my convenience. I didn’t take him up on his offer, but how’s that for customer service!

Sadly, I do feel that customer service at retail establishments is awful most of the time. Perhaps it depends on the area of the country where you live. It seems that around here, many of the people who work in these stores are very rude. I’ve had wonderful experiences shopping in Colorado and in Florida however.

Wow, he was going to bring you the apples – how sweet!

Okay, because of our move to another state and also changing banks, I am constantly on the phone – just now got off the phone with Becky at Kaiser/Oakland – nicest lady – walked me completely through the forms to request all of my daughter’s medical information. I was actually smiling at the end of our conversation. :)

I had a nice experience on Southwest airlines recently. At takeoff my teenage son got a migraine. I asked the flight attendant if there was any pain reliever to give him, and was told that due to allergies and liability, airlines don’t give out medications. She offered to ask passengers, but my son was mortified and said no, even though his head hurt so much he could barely keep it up. A few minutes later, she brought a strong pain reliever - it was hers, and she offered it to me after I promised son had no allergies. She said her own son suffered from migraines and she knew how debilitating they can be. I was impressed. Pain reliever worked within 20 minutes. This may not have been “customer service” per say; it was even better: mom-to-mom service.

My mom and my sister both bought me the same book from Amazon for my b-day this year. My mom contacted them to return it and they gave her a full refund and told her to keep the book. She gave it to me anyway and told me I could sell it if I so desired. I thought that was nice of them.

mstee-
I have a dear friend who is a physician (opthamologist) at that Kaiser Oakland facility, and now that my s relocated out that way he and his gf use that facility. Turns out my friend treated either her or her sister at one time!

Love the apple story!
