My chances for the following colleges:

Rice University
Cornell College
Duke University
Dartmouth College
Harvard University
Princeton University
Stanford University

I agree with the above posters, particularly if you spin your essays right so you convey what you learned through the difficulties you faced growing up (I imagine that might be what you were thinking about writing about seeing as you made a point of mentioning it in your post). At the same time, however, I recommend that you find a couple of likely/safety schools to apply to. Although you should have absolutely no trouble getting into one or more of the colleges you’ve listed, it doesn’t hurt to have a couple of schools you’re more certain you’ll get into. For your chances, the schools I’ve listed as semi-reaches and reaches are listed as such because of the highly selective nature of those particular schools. I’d say, however, that you’ll get into at least one of those five if not several or even all of them.

Chances on a scale of: high reach, reach, semi-reach, good fit, likely, safety.

Rice University… GOOD FIT.
Cornell College… SAFETY. If you’re talking about Cornell University in NY, GOOD FIT.
Duke University… SEMI-REACH.
Dartmouth College… SEMI-REACH.
Harvard University… REACH.
Princeton University… REACH.
Stanford University… REACH.

I would expect you to be admitted at all of those. I would expect Rice to offer big merit money. The Ivies are need based but fairly generous in most cases. Have you thought about a place like Smith or Wellesley as well?

You need 3 SAT IIs at most of these schools. Plan ahead.

I take it you are a US citizen? It could make a difference. I only ask because of the Nigerian club. Native URMs are given more preference in most cases and it can affect aid at some schools. You don’t mention your proposed major, but you might want to add Yale and Columbia. Columbia has some extra money from outside sources for talented URMs and special programs that introduce you to mentors at a high level.

My family is from Nigeria and I am a first generation American. M proposed major would deal with biomedical engineering…
Which SAT 2 would be better to take: Physics or chemistry…I believe chemistry is my stronger suite but I havent taken chemistry in a year and i have taken physics for two years…

Either one or both if you are unsure. As long as you can do a high 600 or 700 you should be good to go. You will have great choices. Most schools will pay for you to visit if you are low income. GO, as they all have different feel.

I think you have a good shot at all of them. but, at that level, there are no guarantees. You could be the smartest most amazing person on earth and get denied from at least one of those schools.

Anyway, I think Rice is the best fit for you. It’s a great place to be. (right at home too.) You could definitely get accepted.

Impossible to say that based on what is posted. It could be Harvard, or Rice, or any one of the others. Visiting is the best way to see how they feel to you.

Even though you have millions of ECs under your belt, always remember that you’ll eventually have to narrow it down to essentials.
BTW, I think your ECs are fantastic, and I’d be surprised if you didn’t get into your top choice school.

I think you have good chances and a definite hook being a URM…
Try to narrow down your awads to the ones that matter the most to you and or look the best…

If you are going to take the Physics SAT 2 I advise you to start studying now if you haven’t already taken AP Physics…
