Which is more important to help you find jobs with econ major: Having lots of internships and experiences or the reputation of the university?

Reputation of the university, GPA, job experience, in that order.

@oldfort thank you. Cauz now I’m choosing between Dartmouth and Uchicago on undergraduate econ major, and I think that the advantage of Dartmouth is I have lots of opportunities getting interns and that of Uchi is the reputation of econ program. So in this case you recommend me to choose Uchi?

No, choose Dartmouth. Most finance firms recruit at Dartmouth, not Uchicago.

If you plan on pursing graduate work in economics, choose UChicago. Career-wise, Dartmouth is probably a better bet.

Both are great schools, congrats. Uchic is definitely p the harder undergrad experience, but Uchic econ faculty is almost unparalleled. Dartmouth alums do help undergrads out though. If you get a decent GPA at either school, you should be fine but that might be harder at Uchic.

OP - I am assuming you got into Dartmouth ED and UChicago EA. This is already April, why have you not notified Chicago yet? You actually don’t have a “choice.”

^OP might’ve gotten a likely letter

Thank you 4 ur reply. Sorry for the misleading word choices, but I’m currently Grade11 and am doing research on colleges to determine which school should be my dream school…
